Katie Phillips

Senior Veterinary Nurse

Katie started her journey towards her veterinary nursing career in 2012 by volunteering and studying a Cert 2 in animal studies at the AWLQ Gold Coast rehoming shelter and was a member of the fostering program helping to hand raise kittens and puppies that were too young for the shelter environment. An exciting opportunity opened to advance her career and skill set moving into a full time nursing position with the AWLQ Community vet clinic in 2013 where Katie hit the ground running. Katie dedicated most of her time to continuing education along with taking a position in after hours services for community and shelter animals and qualified with a certificate 4 in veterinary nursing in late 2014. Having a background in animal welfare and shelter environments has driven her to set high standards of care for all animals Katie meets along the way. Katie has 4 fur kids of my own (2 dogs and 2 cats) and 2 human kids that keep her on her toes. Katie is passionate with many areas of veterinary nursing and makes it her duty to continue to grow as a nurse in every way and is very excited about the future ahead with the James Street team!
